Waves Superrack Upgrade - Click here for link to Superrack User Guide

Through waves we now have programmed: Click on link to
  1. NLS (presets are MIKE32 what he mentions he really likes in the video). We DO NOT HAVE THIS CURRENTLY INSERTED IN THE CHAIN.
  2. waves tune real-time (just helps the vocals be right in tune but gently as to not be obvious in the main mix
  3. f6 floating-band dynamic eq--this basically operates as a dynamic compressor at problem-some frequencies (so all signal is attenuated instead of just when it hits a certain threshold.
  4. c6 multiband compressor (not currently in our setup)
  5. renaissance DeEsser
  6. CLA-76 compressor/limiter
  7. primary source expander (this just makes stuff sound awesome)
  8. CLA-2a compressor/limiter

This setup is some of what Drew Brashlear uses and ALL the processing that Victory Church in Tulsa uses.

Go to minute 14:21 for their actual setup which is installed on ours now!

Waves license can be used on ANY computer with a single flash drive that has the license on it. We have two flash drives with this license. One in the sound booth, and the other travels with Kent for now and will eventually be left in the youth room.

Bryan's computer he built can handle 64 (could even be 32) samples at a latency time of 2.5 milliseconds. Check CPU usage area to assess what the buffet size should be.
The video below is the best guide for using WAVES superrack with our setup. It allows a fail-safe if a computer should crash with the touch of a single button. The entire video is the approach used for our church.
These two guys were also super helpful in the approach to use.

Alternative INFERIOR Approach to Superrack and X32 by using Aux and inserts.
Brashlear does not that you have to go to Setup, click Card, and change to USB Recorded instead of SD recorder in order for it to process correctly. Noted in Minute 9:32 of the video below.

Getting waves to work through aux insert (this allows 4 channels of processed vocals, but is NOT the best option.
Change xlive to usb interface
2:46 routing info from drew video
Inputs Local change to card 1-6
Tab to card for outputs and select aux out
5 and 6 stereo bus
Main left and right aux connect and insert
Click insert on channel on aux number

Time Alignment of Room Mics

Rear room mics
15.363 meters from horizontal
3.492 vertical
15.75 meters is c for room mic (THIS IS THE DELAY THAT IS NEEDED FOR THE MICS ON THE SUBWOOFERS)

Drums time delay needed (THIS DELAY IS NEEDED, BUT NOT CONFIGURED YET)
5.896 vertical
 6.957 horizontal
9.12 meters is c” of Pythagorean—delay mains to this time

Delay for KICK and other Drums: 15.75meters but should be 15.363 most likely or 15.5
Delay for MONITOR

Helpful room mic comparison. Also good thoughts on compression settings as source for drums so they pick up more crowd audio when drums are not super loud.

We were EXTREMELY CLOSE to Brashlear's setup :) Look at 1:06 left in video for his actual settings

The Best Noise Gate Settings for Vocals - Music Guy Mixing

Noise Gate Settings for Vocals Tips (recommended settings are as follows):Attack--1 to 3ms
Hold--25ms
Release--100ms

  • A noise gate can be effective in removing background noise from your vocals, but only with the right settings.
  • Manually doing fades on breaths sounds more natural than using a gate.
  • The best threshold setting for a noise gate for vocals is just above the ambient sound and just below the quietest breaths.
  • 1-3ms is the best setting for attack for vocals on a noise gate as this engages the gate very quickly yet naturally after that threshold is met.
  • The hold setting on a noise gate determines how long a gate remains fully open after the signal drops below the threshold. Set this around 25ms to reduce the chattering sound of the gate and get a more natural result.
  • A release setting of 100ms is a good starting point for an average speed for closing the gate.
  • Setting a lookahead of 1-3ms helps preserve the transients of your audio.
  • The noise “floor” setting allows you to work in more or less ambient noise even when the gate is closed. This creates a more natural contrast between the two, making the gate more subtle when closed, opening, or closing.
  • With busier mixes where there’s always something playing and masking the noise, you can afford to be more aggressive with the noise gate.
  • Conversely, on sparser and quieter mixes, the noise gate settings for vocals should be more conservative as you aim for more of a compromise between the noise and your mix.

The Christian Evangel was published by J. Roswell Flower, an early leader of the Assemblies of God.
In 1914, after the Assemblies of God was founded in Hot Springs, Arkansas, E. N. Bell joined J. R. Flower in publishing it.

The Christian Evangel along with the Word and Witness were the official mouthpieces of the Assemblies of God in its formative years.
In 1916, the Word and Witness was discontinued, and the Christian Evangel became the Assemblies of God's sole weekly piece.
In 1919, the Christian Evangel was renamed the Pentecostal Evangel.

The purpose of this site is to reclaim some of the lost legacy of the Christian Evangel and tell some of the untold stories of the Assemblies of God.
