Questions to Consider:
Have you ever felt God's presence?
When was the first time you felt God's presence?
When was the last time you felt God's presence?
When do you feel closest to God?
You don't have to know a lot about God (or the Bible) in order to feel God's presence. You do need to know about Him (by reading the Bible) in order to most effectively share your faith. As you will see though, you simply need to share with others what you do know so far! As you grow in your faith, you can share more and more. Don't be afraid to say, "You know, that's a good question, and while I don't know the answer right now. I'll find out!" Then find out and follow up.
For instance, Jesus is the Savior of the world. He died and rose from death is a pretty good start for what the Gospel means.

Here's some key readings:
John 1
43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”
44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. 45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”
46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.
“Come and see,” said Philip.
47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”
48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.
Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”
49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”
50 Jesus said, “You believe[h] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[i] you[j] will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’[k] the Son of Man.”
Jesus always called himself the "Son of Man." What was with this? Read below and then watch the video below from the Bible Project to better understand.
Daniel 7:13-14
13 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man,[a] coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. 14 He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
Genesis 28
Jacob’s Dream at Bethel10 Jacob left Beersheba and set out for Harran. 11 When he reached a certain place, he stopped for the night because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones there, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep. 12 He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. 13 There above it[c] stood the Lord, and he said: “I am the Lord, the God of your father Abraham and the God of Isaac. I will give you and your descendants the land on which you are lying. 14 Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south. All peoples on earth will be blessed through you and your offspring.[d] 15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”
16 When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he thought, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.” 17 He was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God; this is the gate of heaven.”
18 Early the next morning Jacob took the stone he had placed under his head and set it up as a pillar and poured oil on top of it. 19 He called that place Bethel,[e] though the city used to be called Luz.

Jesus turns water into wine in John 2. Start about minute 12 and watch through where Jesus talks to Nicodemus with John 3:16. If you have 3 hours, this is the entire Gospel of John word-for-word :)
- Most people get caught up on the sign (when Jesus turned water into wine), but I want you to focus on God's glory.
- Jesus will show up when you need Him, but you have to ask (just like his mom asked him).
- Jesus wants us to have a real relationship with God not just a religious experience.
- If stuff is not going right in your life, maybe you should invite Jesus to come and do with you what He did at the Temple (he cleansed it in John 2).
- Jesus wants to change you completely and compositionally (just like He did when He turned water into wine).
John 3:3: Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
You can't stop at just believing in Jesus. You must be born-again. You must become a disciple.
The words "Spirit" and "wind" are the same in Greek.
Jesus wanted Nicodemus to know that he didn't have to understand everything about the new birth before he experienced it.
You don't have to feel God's presence to start a relationship with God.
John 3:14-16: "Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him." For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Numbers 21:4-9 "The Bronze Snake"
4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea,[c] to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!”
6 Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died. 7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.
8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.
Look to Jesus and live! This is the Gospel.

- The Samaritans believed because of Jesus's word. The Jews would only believe if there were signs and wonders.
- True faith is simply taking Jesus at His Word.
- Jesus wants us to have faith that doesn't require a miraculous sign.
- The first sign persuaded His Disciples (water into wine).
- The second sign persuaded a Jewish nobleman and his household.
- The third sign gave hope to a hopeless person (healing at the pool).
- The Samaritans believed that Jesus was the Christ/Messiah without a sign.
- What about you?
John 4: Please read all but what is bolded is super important!
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”
The Disciples Rejoin Jesus27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
Many Samaritans Believe39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
This woman at the well wasn't living her life right with God, but she told everybody she knew who Jesus was. And they believed! We need to share our faith in Jesus regardless of how much we know about Him or how long we have known Him.

John 4
Jesus Heals an Official’s Son43 After the two days he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, for they also had been there.
46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,” Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household believed.
54 This was the second sign Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.

You are either born once and die twice. Or, you are born twice and die once.
John 6: Feeding the 5,000
Details found in other Gospels
Matthew 14:13-21 (5,000 men plus women and children)
Mark 6:30-44 (the disciples and Jesus were kind of burnt out and hadn't even had a chance to eat.
Luke 9:10-17 (the 12 disciples were coming back from just being sent out) and John 6:1-15
Matthew 14:22-36 (Peter walks on water as well)
Mark 6:45-52 (the disciples hadn't understood about the loaves, their hearts were hardened)
John 6:16-21

Matthew 14:13-21 (5,000 men plus women and children)
Mark 6:30-44 (the disciples and Jesus were kind of burnt out and hadn't even had a chance to eat.
Luke 9:10-17 (the 12 disciples were coming back from just being sent out) and John 6:1-15
- Most everyone ate and was filled, but they had no idea that a miracle was happening.
- The disciples did not do the miracle; they simply distributed the miraculous work of Jesus.
- These five loaves by a strange kind of math because they were multiplied by division.
- Though the disciples did not understand or anticipate the miracle, Jesus invited them to participate in it. They distributed the miraculously multiplied bread and fish. Without their work, no one would have been fed.
- Notice again: The disciples had NO CLUE what to do. All they did was listen to Jesus, and God worked a miracle through them.
- When they had seen the sign that Jesus did: The way Jesus provided bread for a multitude in the open air (something of a wilderness) reminded everyone of how God worked through Moses to feed Israel with manna in the wilderness.
Matthew 14:22-36 (Peter walks on water as well)
Mark 6:45-52 (the disciples hadn't understood about the loaves, their hearts were hardened)
John 6:16-21
- This was actually the second time Jesus dealt with His disciples on a stormy Sea of Galilee.
- In the first storm (Matthew 8:24), Jesus was present with them in the boat and He rebuked and calmed the storm.
- In this storm Jesus asked His disciples to trust His unseen care and concern for them.
- Everything in their life was not going right, but Jesus was looking out for them the whole time. Then, when he showed up, He delivered them.
- When you choose Jesus, everything doesn't automatically just go right. In fact, you can sometimes really struggle.

The Book of John has something specific and special for you.
John isn’t full of one-line wonders like Proverbs; It’s whole thoughts and deep
It’s for everyone. It’s for you.
God’s forgiveness was free, but it wasn’t cheap
Few people are willing to bring their life into the light
The lights convicts, challenges, and calls us out
What happens to your eyes when you look at your phone at night. The light hurts.
Your life has adjusted to the darkness.
Our lives need to adjust to the light of Christ
What we’ve been doing is running from the light and from our shame.
Christ doesn’t want to make you feel better. He’s interested in making you well.
Fear of the light is keeping you in a place of darkness.
Step into the light so it can deal with the darkness.
Getting exposed is the best thing that could ever happen to you.
“If this is your plan, it stinks.”
At 14 years old, Josh never stopped believing in Jesus, but stopped living for Jesus.
The reality of sin is that it leaves us more broken than it finds us.
It’s a small world façade—Josh's Disney story. Ride broke down and the lights came on.
3am—2004 or 2005 Josh dad called him
D204–he was about 20
Turn on the lights!
Gods forgiveness is free but it isn’t cheap
Adjust your eyes to the light aka Jesus
They are afraid of the light because of the fear that exposes them. Getting exposed is the BEST thing that could ever happen to you.
“Sin always feels good in the moment, but it leaves you broken down the road.”
At 20, his life came into the light. His parents confronted him. He passed out stepping out of his mom’s Lincoln Navigator.
And the Lord had my attention.
You’ve been running for me.
But if you’ll follow me. I’m here, and we can get through this thing together.
Run from the light
But when you turn and…
Come into the light
Then you can run through
Run in the light
God doesn’t promise to make your life easier, but he promises to walk with you every step of the way.
The light will help you see clearly.
The light helps you.
The enemy knows you by your name, but he calls you by your failure.
But Jesus tells you that your failures aren’t more powerful than his name.
2 Corinthians 9:6-12--
6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”[a] 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9 As the Scriptures say,
“They share freely and give generously to the poor.
Their good deeds will be remembered forever.”[b]
10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity[c] in you.
11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God. 12 So two good things will result from this ministry of giving—the needs of the believers in Jerusalem[d] will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.

Southern Missouri Youth Convention Notes: Saturday Afternoon
What do you want?
Jesus came to change your heart, and more specifically what your heart worships
